About Ukraine:
Ukraine has a rich cultural heritage, becoming a Christian nation in the tenth century. Severe suffering under the Soviet regime included suppression of Christianity as well as a Stalin-imposed famine that killed 3 to 7 million people. After gaining independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, Ukraine’s economy declined by 50 percent, leading to widespread poverty. Although the economy has stabilized, economic recovery is slow due to excessive government regulation and corruption. With new-found freedom, Ukrainians are searching for answers to life questions in places they could not before. They are open to receiving the Gospel, leading to an incredible growth in the number of lives turned to Christ and in the opportunities for future ministry
